UGS Rehden – MARKETING OF CAPACITIES FOR STORAGE YEAR 2025/2026

[Kassel, August 5, 2025] Due to the continued unfavorable market conditions for storage capacities and the foreseeable imminent approach of the critical filling path with regard to the storage level targets set by the Gas Storage Level Ordinance (GasSpFüllstV), while maintaining the standard product structure, SEFE Storage GmbH announces—referring to the press release dated July 16, 2025—that on August 6, 2025, an additional portion of the previously unmarketed storage capacities of the Rehden natural gas storage facility will be offered for auction via the PRISMA capacity platform. These capacities will be presented in the form of an adjusted product structure for the current storage year 2025/2026.

SEFE Storage GmbH still holds an unallocated working gas volume of 37.3 TWh in the Rehden storage facility for the current storage year 2025/26, which could not be marketed despite numerous efforts. As of now, no booking or filling activities have been observed from the market area manager Trading Hub Europe GmbH. SEFE Storage remains in ongoing dialogue on this matter. So far, no measures have been taken or announced in accordance with § 35c (2) of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG).

In the upcoming auction, SEFE Storage GmbH will offer a total of 3.0 TWh of firm working gas volume in an adjusted product structure, divided into 27 bundles of 111.7 GWh each. Each bundle will include a firm injection capacity of 72.9 MWh/h and a firm withdrawal capacity of 56.5 MWh/h.

With this adjusted product structure, SEFE Storage GmbH is responding to the exceptional market situation, aiming to continue providing appropriate access to the Rehden natural gas storage facility under technically feasible and economically viable conditions—especially in light of the storage level targets—during a period of significantly altered demand and unusually low booking and filling rates for this time of year. As a result of the adjusted product structure, SEFE Storage GmbH can still market up to approximately 17.3 TWh of working gas volume (bringing the total to a maximum of around 24.6 TWh, equivalent to 55% of the Rehden storage facility’s working gas volume) using the remaining firm injection capacity. No firm injection capacity is available for marketing any additional working gas volume beyond this amount.

Unless market signals change significantly, SEFE Storage will continue to implement the marketing of this adjusted storage product. The lead time for announcing each auction remains at 24 hours.

Relevant information regarding the storage product will be available on the website www.sefe-storage.de under the section “Auction Products.”
